In this first set of artifacts we will be looking at, I had my epiphany about my inquiry project. This unit looked at different forms of oppression during the second half of the 1800’s including the Trail of Tears, slavery, lack of rights for factory workers, early women’s suffragette movement, and prejudice towards immigrants.
This unit was extremely important in my inquiry because students were able to engage in the historical and modern day connections of the lessons and use all that information to produce creative pieces that challenges social and historical ideas. This unit had a strong essential question and every day we focused on both the historical and the modern day so connections were very evident to the students. |
